The Rapids Camp at Sagana is a green serene environment set on the banks of River Tana about 95km away from the city. Despite its dry dusty surroundings, the environment drastically changes once you reach there. The first sights is a building with a thatched roof, a camping site seated in the middle of huge rocks and of course the main attraction being the Sagana River, which flows through the evergreen lands and disappears into the bushes.
As easy and exciting it is to decide to climb Mt. Kenya, you cant help feeling the goose bumps especially of what I have heard before. Some have died either flying there due to the heavy mist, others deciding to climb the rocky heights of Point Batian (The highest peak) with no professional equipments or experience, others have fainted having reached Point Lenana (2nd highest point of Mt.Kenya), and other cases of frostbites (freezing of limbs). My experience however was totally different.
